VHDX mount and boot – step by step guide

Tip 1: Create a 25GB VHDX file and assign a drive letter:

diskpart
create vdisk file=C:\windows.vhd maximum=25600 type=fixed
select vdisk file=C:\windows.vhdx
attach vdisk
create partition primary
assign letter=v
format quick label=vhd
exit

Tip 2: Attaching existing Windows preloaded VHDX File and making it bootable

diskpart
select vdisk file=c:\windows.vhdx
attach vdisk
list volume   /* this will provide the volume number and other details of all disks attached
select volume <volume_number_of_attached_VHD>
assign letter=v
bcdboot v:\windows
